One of the highlights of this year was the trips, our first trip was to London. Although the coach trip was terrible and the hotel wasn't much better, the trip was still very helpful! We got the opportunity to go to Fallon, DARE and CST. We got given two seperate briefs for this trip which was slightly scary because i have never given a presentation infront of working creatives before. Fallon allowed us to work in our creative teams which was fun, the product they had us work on was Innocent smoothies we had to do a campaign that explained to the consumer that Innocent would make you happy and would make you more healthy. Myself and my partner found this quite hard because we could not come up with a strategy and as i have explained advertisements are based around the strategy. We presented our work, the two creatives were not all impressed but they gave us really good feedback which was well worth the embarrassment. We also got the chance to go to DARE, it was amazing, we walked in to a conference room with a long table full of snacks, beer and wine (a students idea of heaven, FREE drink) we got the chance to look at their real and look at the creatives book that they went to their crits with! It was a lot to take in and quite overwhelming finding out the hours they have to work, but if you love your job then I guess it doesnt matter. Finally we went to see CST, ran by a renowned copy writer Dave Trott, I have never been more nervous, I had herd that Dave Trott was always looking for new questions to be asked and new answers to be given, so i walked in, pen and pad in hand feeling like a nervous school girl on her first day of school. The conference room was very different to that of Fallon and Dare, it was pretty much bare with a glass table, and a lone TV in the far corner, i could feel myself growing more nervous. Then Dave Trott walked in, i bet you think i am going to say it wasnt a nerve racking as i thought? Well it was, within the first hour Dave Trott was threatening to leave the talk, no one was asking questions about the work we had to put up on the wall about the G-Wiz. I held my breathe and then spoke the words I thought I was going to regret for the next hour, i mentioned moving on to the next ad and talking about that one. Dave Trott replied with a cool 'go on then you get up and Crit this work' so for the next hour I decided to Crit everyones work! I started off nervous and it didnt help i had laryngitis, but then became more confident and actually enjoyed myself! Although it was very nerve racking, I will never forget the day i met Dave Trott.
