The Essay and the presentation

When starting this course i did not think that there would be any writing of essays at all, I thought this was a course completely based on the creative aspect of your brain. So you can imagine how disappointed I was when I found out I had to write 2000 word essay. Luckily it was all about brands and what one was. The first half of the essay was about what I thought a brand was and second part was about my chosen brand. I decided to do my essay on Chanel, not because i am obsessed with fashion, it was more to do with the fact that i had watched the french film 'Coco before Chanel' quite recently before I got given this module. I found the film to be very informative and i really enjoyed the way that Coco Chanel was portrayed through the actress Audrey Tautou. It was such an inspiring film I thought that if it inspired me then surely it inspired a lot of other people which would give the brand a good personality. I found writing the essay because it does not come easily to me. I find writing essays quite boring and mundane i would much prefer to do an oral presentation. I found the research more interesting because i could get a feel for what Chanel was all about. After I had completed the essay I had to start on my presentation, I decided i wanted to interact with the audience so i made small laminated cards that were black with a white Chanel logo on them, I also printed some quotes that Chanel had said on the back. I handed these out for the class to get a feel for the elegance of Chanel. I also done a PowerPoint which guided me through my presentation. I found this quite easy but i made sure that i practiced a lot before hand so I wouldn't end up talking too much...I would say or too little but we know that would never happen. Overall my presentation went down well and my research did too, my essay was pretty average but I can only learn from the mistakes i made! I never thought I would say this but...writing the essay helped me a lot with my other modules.
